What to Expect During Your Exam
A Genius™ 3D Mammography™ exam is very similar to a traditional mammogram:
- Positioning and Compression: The technologist will position your breast and apply compression to get clear images.
- Image Capture: During the exam, the X-ray arm sweeps in a slight arc over the breast, taking multiple images in just seconds. The process takes only a few extra seconds compared to a 2D mammogram.
- Review: The technologist will view the images at a computer workstation to ensure quality images have been captured for review. A radiologist will then study the images and report the results to your physician or directly to you.

Important instructions for your upcoming mammogram appointment
To help you prepare for your mammogram, please take note of the following:
- Arrival Time: Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.
- Clothing: For your comfort, wear 2-piece clothing as you will be asked to remove all clothing from the waist up. This includes all jewelry.
- Avoidance of Products: On the day of your exam, please refrain from using deodorant, powder, or lotion under your arms or on your breasts, as these products can sometimes interfere with the mammogram results.
